Getting started

A new Library Tutorial is now available from the Library tab in the LMS. If you're new to study or want to check your skills, complete the Pre-Quiz. You can work through all or any of the topics to top up your knowledge. Topics covered include:
  1. Library Resources - LibGuides, library catalogue, My eLibrary account
  2. Primary, Secondary & Tertiary sources
  3. Referencing
  4. The Research Process
  5. e-Resources
  6. EBSCO Discovery Service
This tutorial is only a springboard to university study. Always consult a librarian or the Tutorial tutor if you're unsure of anything. And your feedback on the new course is most welcome to help us improve.

New 2014 LibGuides

What do you think of the new LibGuides? Please leave a Comment on the blog if you'd like to offer some feedback.

There's still a little bit of work to be done but hopefully its brighter and easier to navigate than our previous attempts. We're also trying to include Assignment resources on the Subject Guides where we can. And we've also broken up Referencing and Mendeley to help you find what you're looking for quicker.

LibGuides is ALWAYS changing so please keep returning and let us know how we can improve.

2014 Semester Hours

We've listened to student feedback and there have been some changes to library hours. All campuses will open at 7:50 am Monday to Friday to allow those early birds to return, borrow or print prior to class.

Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne will close at 7:00 pm Monday to Thursday and 5:00 pm on Friday. Saturday times remain unchanged.

Gold Coast, Adelaide and Perth will close at 6:00 pm Monday to Thursday and 1:00 pm on Friday

Best wishes for a successful 2014.

NEW ORDER in the library

After nearly twelve months and a multitude of linked project all campus libraries now have a ‘new order’ in the library. Gone are the modality sections and all resources – books, journals and DVDs have been interfiled by their Dewey classification number starting at 000 and finishing with 999. This standard arrangement known as the Dewey Decimal Classification is common in both academic and public libraries.

As Endeavour has a specialised collection, the old modality divisions were no longer reflective of the programs being offered by Endeavour. The decision to undertake this huge project of relabelling and moving all resources to a new location within the libraries was a major step forward in library organisation.

The new arrangements allow students to discovery related resources while browsing the shelves as well as using the library catalogue to help interrogate the collections when searching for special subjects. We’ve already received positive comments from students on the new arrangement. But some students have complained that books are not where they should be!

It’s recommended that you spend time getting to know your campus library layout and how to use the library catalogue on campus and online. The library will have handouts, bookmarks and posters to help you find what you're looking for. And if in doubt - Just Ask!

LibGuide for Alumni

Best wishes to all students who are preparing for exams, especially those who are soon to graduate. We've created a special LibGuides page for our Alumni, under the Services tab. It contains linstings of free to use databases, professional associations and any special deals that come our way.

Library Survey winner

Thank you to everyone who responded to the Library Survey. Jade a Sydney student of Naturopathy was the lucky winner of the Samsung Galaxy tablet.
Smiles all around!
