NEW ORDER in the library

After nearly twelve months and a multitude of linked project all campus libraries now have a ‘new order’ in the library. Gone are the modality sections and all resources – books, journals and DVDs have been interfiled by their Dewey classification number starting at 000 and finishing with 999. This standard arrangement known as the Dewey Decimal Classification is common in both academic and public libraries.

As Endeavour has a specialised collection, the old modality divisions were no longer reflective of the programs being offered by Endeavour. The decision to undertake this huge project of relabelling and moving all resources to a new location within the libraries was a major step forward in library organisation.

The new arrangements allow students to discovery related resources while browsing the shelves as well as using the library catalogue to help interrogate the collections when searching for special subjects. We’ve already received positive comments from students on the new arrangement. But some students have complained that books are not where they should be!

It’s recommended that you spend time getting to know your campus library layout and how to use the library catalogue on campus and online. The library will have handouts, bookmarks and posters to help you find what you're looking for. And if in doubt - Just Ask!
